Danny Wallace's Important Broadcast

It's only fair to acknowledge that when The Great Leader delves into the paranormal, there is occasionally an ulterior motive. We all, including The Great Leader Himself, enjoy hearing Steve get wound up by excessive detail, but this week there is something that demands a closer look. What was really going on? Plus, the Northern Lights, Scotland, counterfeit biscuits (finally) and a piece of advice from "business Steve". Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Hannah & Jane. Thank you.

It's D-DAY, which is not to say it's Dan day, because that's every day... THIS D-Day is dedication day, because for reasons unknown, many, many listeners made time-specific dedication requests falling on, or around this very day. It coincides with The Important Broadcast welcoming a new neighbour in the shape of Steve Jones, whom The Great Leader was not in the least bit threatened by. Plus, another Steve invention and a spooky tale from the toy box. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Simon, the Terrible Two-Year-Old, Sophie & Louis. Thank you.

The Great Leader opened the doors for listeners to contribute today and luckily they didn't let themselves down. Lovely. After all that, there was still plenty more to talk about, including Steve's method for measuring olive oil and how exactly one can bridge the generational divide, should one want or need to. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Natalie, Eddie & Ruth. Thank you.

Sometimes, the IBS emerge from your device strong, warmed up and at the top of their game. However, don't you think it would be unfair of you to expect that EVERY time? Surely you have to accept that Steve is human and sometimes, just sometimes, he might need the first 30 minutes of the show to warm up. Is that not ok!? Not to worry, because once he'd warmed up, it all fell into place. Toothbrushes, hair, team-building exercises and almost everything in between, plus a new Radio X directive for The Great Leader to try out. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Laura. Thank you.

Steve has a lot to unload this week. Luckily, The Great Leader bears the weight of a thousand men, so it is no challenge. Firstly, there are Steve's international piano lessons. Then, there's the issue of how many times he might have to go and see 'the new Nolan.' The Great Leader simply listens and advises better than any wiseman ever could. He is flawless. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Em (Emily). Thank you.

When The Great Leader asks "who else is doing this on the radio?" it means he's about to do something that, quite literally, nobody else would dare to do on the radio. Such is his courage. Steve, to his credit, will back The Great Leader through all of this and for that he, too, should be commended. This week there are conversations which include milk, sitcoms and Father Christmas. Enjoy. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Tony (48). Thank you.

The Great Leader has given it a huge amount of thought and has decided that 'Retail Roulette' (an idea that the IBS half-heartedly tried out last week) could, in theory, potentially, in the right market conditions, become a semi-regular feature, depending on many factors... So that's exciting. Plus, Steve has been chatting to his bin, so there's a lot to unpack there. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Alfie. Thank you.

Most British people have spent all summer talking about the weather and The Great Leader reflects that beautifully, in todays programme. Then Steve continues to talk about the weather and if anything it all gets silly after that. Plus, a return to Heathrow business hotels and PERHAPS the birth of the NEXT BIG THING on British radio. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Kiera. Thank you.

The Great Leader is unpredictable. He will lead you hither, thither, up hill, down dale but never up a blind alley. He will ALWAYS surprise you. This week, Steve returned from his honeymoon a new and married man. There was much focus on this, as well as a live UFO investigation and one of Steve's Top 10 hilarious moments of confusion. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Lisa Evans. Thank you.

For some reason, Michelle Michelle Michelle has demanded that Steve go away on something she insists on calling a "honeymoon." For that reason, Steve is absent this week, but the IBS team understands that he will return next week. Until then, a disturbing update on Silver Lightning, much discussion on the Anglesey Panic and a dog doing a wee PERILOUSLY close to The Great Leader. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Lynn's bloke. Thank you.

The Great Leader is so powerful. He has such influence. That aside, however, he is an odd man. He was an odd boy too and this is only proven further today. Meanwhile, Steve pontificates on the Dartford Crossing and how often Queen Elizabeth II might have visited it and there's a paranormal update from Anglesey. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to The Nameless 16 Year Old, of Ian's. Thank you.

As the final moments before his wedding tick by, Steve considers ways to save a bit of money. Meanwhile, it's rare that The Great Leader's subordinates will question, or mock him... But sometimes it happens and the consequences are shocking. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Louise. Thank you.

It's Prime Minister Eve! Who's excited?! However you're spending it, just try to get an early night and don't overdo it. This week, Steve kept his birthday a secret, to see if anybody noticed. Find out what happened. Plus, The Great Leader had a currywurst this week, so you know it's been a a good one. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to THE Steve Ferdinando. He's 5oz of lovely, 3 tablespoons of silly, 4 fl oz of fun and a pinch of gorgeous. Season to taste. Thank you.

The energy was all over the place today. At times it was frivolous and others, entirely absent. The Great Leader maintained control throughout, but there was no doubt about the energy. Steve couldn't settle himself down before the game last night, so he played on his yoga mat for a bit. Meanwhile, The Great Leader recalls the time he inconvenienced Stephen Merchant. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Phil. Thank you.

There was huge excitement inside and specifically above the studio today. HUGE excitement. The Great Leader contained it with ease, though, as you'd expect. As The IBS grow closer to Steve's nuptials, there is much business to attend to, like what his wife's name will be. Plus, what should you say if a friend says "I love you" and are you watching the game tonight? Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Mick. Thank you.

If you're reading this and you're trying to gain some insight into this episode, think... Would The Great Leader want you going in, armed with prior knowledge? Well... It might not hurt. This episode will challenge what you think about novelty t-shirts and confound your expectations of what somebody might do if they visited somewhere called "Zip World". The Great Leader will give you most precious look into how he answers his children's questions and a YouGov survey might just have hit the nail on the head. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to George, Freddie & Paige. Thank you.

You can say what you like, but there are no flies on Steve. He gets it. But does he get it in the same way that The Great Leader gets it? No. No, he doesn't. The Great Leader gets it and if anybody sits in His seats... THEY get it. Got it? All of that (whatever it means), plus, opera, Got Got Need and some hand signals. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Ksenia's husband. Thank you.

Scottish football fans were thrilled as they woke up this morning, but it fell to Danny Wallace, The Great Leader to deliver some very unfortunate news. On a lighter note, there were some brilliant deals to snap up in "What's Your Deal?" and Steve enjoyed an evening of culture, which he was more than happy to tell everyone about. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Dave. Thank you.

The Important Broadcast bid farewell to it's radio neighbours today, with Ed Gamble & Matthew Crosby departing Radio X. Go well, chaps. Once that was taken care of, it was back to business, including MORE stag-do's for Steve, an unfortunate school visit for The Great Leader and a welcome return for Dinner Winner. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Lisa. Thank you.

Steve's wedding continues to hove into view and he's been on a stag do, so what happened? The Great Leader wasn't invited, that's for sure. No matter, because he was far too busy with much higher-minded matters. Plus, three dedications (see below) and a deep-dive into the historical accuracy of The Flintstones. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Jamie Huggett, Charlotte GLC & "name withheld" and Noah Taylor. Thank you.

You might think it unusual for The Great Leader, to call the shots at Steve's wedding, but he's darn well going to. Steve has moved forwards with some plans, but he'll have to see whether Danny agrees. Plus, AI being used by EVERY company on Earth, a library-based life hack and a troubling toothbrush tale. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to John. Thank you.

This Broadcast takes many twists and many turns. Monster Trucks, Cannes Film Festival, Christian values. All sorts. The Great Leader wishes only to broaden your minds. Let him. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Katie & Sam. Thank you.

The Great Leader travels many hours to impart his words to you. Just stop. Give him your attention. LISTEN. This week, he attempted humour in his local WhatsApp group and it may not have been understood. Meanwhile, Steve describes an apparently indescribable kitchen implement and makes an excellent joke in good company. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Asha & the twins. Thank you.

The Great Leader doesn't have 'good' or 'bad' shows. The Great Leader just has shows... Magnificent, era-defining, colossal shows. However, The Great Leader IS working with mortals and those mortals will make mistakes. They are human. It is an insult to Him, but they are only human. Steve is only human and that's why he gets so angry about his little car getting dented. Plus, cable aggression, scandal at the chip shops and a guest judge for Dinner Winner! Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to English Dan. Thank you.

London's streets filled with running dorks today and that is something The Great Leader finds very troubling. Steve on the other hand, is full of joy and peace, because it turns out he's making quite a splash on the yoga scene. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Yvonne. Thank you.

It's a shame to have to write it, but Dinner Winner was once more dragged into the realms of controversy. You'll already know who is responsible. The Great Leader had a 'busy week' this week. That meant he'd been using his printer a lot. Plus, a broken iPad, some money making tips and Donald Trump... A TIME TRAVELLER?! Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to The Anonymous Limping Runner. Thank you.

The Important Broadcast does not comment on any legal entanglements it may or not be involved in, at any time. No comment. This week, The Great Leader's specially appointed hairdresser surprised him. He needs to consider her observations. Meanwhile, Steve has been offered a job or two. Possibly... Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Stewart. Thank you.

Steve has had many theories over the years, but this week he reckons his car is out to get him. Give it a chance. Plus, The Great Leader demands a game involving old sounds (see an episode from a few weeks ago) and that's exactly what he gets. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Matt. Thank you.

The Great Leader is patient, but only to a point. If the cat (Chores) and the dog (Hassle) push him too far... That patience will run out. This week, Steve seizes upon an opportunity to recover costs and an invitation for the listener to be positive falls flat. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to The Unknown Husband. Thank you.

A veritable feast of great variety this week. One moment The Great Leader enchants you with tales of household chores in uniform and the next, Steve's runs out of puff at the car wash. There's a guest judge, haunted dolls, a parking match up and the flying squad! Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Ally. Thank you.

The Great Leader has SERIOUS business to discuss this week. Please, put down what you're doing, assume the position and CONSIDER. Aside from this, Steve has been to Andorra and gathered about as much information as you'd imagine and somebody messages in from a place called "Fence Houses." Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Andy’s Man Club & Rachel Thank you.

The show begins, for reasons that nobody understands, with Steve talking about how attractive he feels. Why not, eh? The Great Leader soon puts things back on track though, with horrendous stories about space and a chilling (quite electronics heavy) Explain That. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Megan. Thank you.

The Important Broadcast always has eyes and ears in exactly the right places, which is why Steve was dispatched to Manchester to attend the Brit Awards last night. Just WAIT until you here how much gossip he's brought back. Meanwhile, The Great Leader has made an enormous impact... Using only seven words. Just, wow. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated (late, owing to various factors) to Catherine. Thank you.

When you really think about it, there are lots of sounds you used to hear 30 years ago, which have fallen silent in the intervening years. When's the last time you heard a cassette rewind?? EXACTLY. This is the podcast that makes you think those thoughts and confront those feelings in an incredibly engaging way. Plus, The Great Leader gets very, VERY wet. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Lucy & Matthew Thank you.

Steve let something slip this week... Something that might get him into an awful lot of trouble. Plus, some heartfelt valentines messaging, a thrilling game of Dinner Winner and an update on "The Disclosure". Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Ollie. Thank you.

The Great Leader prepares, curates and meditates upon his lessons for hundreds of hours, before he delivers them to thine ears. At the other end of the spectrum, Steve simply brings some 'loose thoughts.' This week, bottomless crisps, questionable parking and a breaking down of the creativity barriers. Get in. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Toby. Thank you.

What with all his film reviews every January, was there one particular film you think Steve may have seen this week? Well, did he? The Great Leader gave him ample opportunity... Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to the warm and dextrous hands of Dr Sanjay Agrawal. Thank you.

The Great Leader is a great provider. When it comes to his family, he only gives... This week he prepared yet another nutritious meal for them and he's here to tell you all about it. Plus, Steve goes for 2 out of 2 with successful, heart-of-the-issue text topics... Will he be successful? Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Mr Barrett & Year 9. Thank you.

Thanks to his many, many loyal followers, The Great Leader did not forget his wedding anniversary this year. This was a real one in the eye for his wife. What a victory for Him. As well as celebrations of this very thing, Steve has actually fulfilled a promise and watched a film about Loch Ness. Was it any good? Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Nikki Rose. Thank you.

A shop owner was lucky enough to welcome The Great Leader into their emporium this week. The Great Leader did not disappoint them and made a grand purchase. Meanwhile, Steve watched a film. He'll tell you about it, though he won't tell you when it was made, who was in it, or who actually made it. Par for the course. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Rick. Thank you.

It would be pointless to suggest that The Great Leader was 'starting 2026 as he means to go on.' Everything He does happens precisely when and because He means it to. That said, 2026 began with great intention. An epic seasonal trip to Switzerland from The Great Leader and a raft of predictions for the year ahead, from Steve. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Frederick. Thank you.

It's a funny time of year isn't it?! Hahahahaha, ok, see you later! In the valley 'twixt Christmas and New Year, The IBS assemble to bring you your usual dose. Take it nicely please. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to the unnamed baby! Thank you.

There's no point in beating around the bush. The final Sunday before Christmas means only one thing... It's the Dinner Winner Grand Final. Who will end the year as reigning champion? Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Kevin. Thank you.

The Great Leader knows that Christmas is approaching and whilst he will observe that fact, he doesn't want it to distract you. Do not let it distract you. This week, Steve has been to Berlin (again) and there's the small business of the Dinner Winner Semi-Final of 2025. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Graham. Thank you.

Steve's body has endured many things over 35 years, but this week, it underwent a comprehensive test, which was carried out (for reasons which aren't completely clear) to determine his biological age. Whilst The Great Leader didn't explicitly sign off on this, he was content for the results to be delivered on the radio, to the nation. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Laura. Thank you.

Despite the serious and sober nature of The Important Broadcast, there was an almost playful mood this week and many games took place as a result... "What's Your Deal", "Got, Got, Need", "Steve vs. Michelle" & "Dinner Winner" all had a run out. How fun. Plus, an almost unbelievable film from Peter Andre and some discarded paint. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Helen. Thank you.

Following The Great Leader's big day, he was more than happy to share with us all the offerings which were made in his name. The list was captivating. Meanwhile, Steve took delivery of something in a large box, which he unpacked and got into. Of course he did. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to David Talbot. Thank you.

Following the most recent Module, The Great Leader discovered something unfortunate.

The Great Leader can choose to broadcast from a different studio at a moments notice, but it must not distract you. Not one bit. From his tiny studio, He will direct you upon how to celebrate His day and lecture you on FAILURE. Plus, a big purchase for Steve and some gifts! Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Elly & Jago. Thank you.

Steve dreamt about fishing with The Great Leader this week, which opened up questions about their spiritual connection. Plus, Steve welcomes us to Culture Corner, and Dinner Winner was a total disaster. Please send your listener comments to Danny@radiox.co.uk This week's podcast is dedicated to Jodie. Thank you.
